A-Z Books read meme Apr. 6th, 2008 @ 10:02 pm
Thanks to mollydot, here's a simple meme — for each letter of the English alphabet, name a book [edit: that you've read] whose title (not counting articles) begins with that letter.

bored yet?Collapse )

…it's funny how titles are distributed; I couldn't find anything for G, K, Q, X and Z, but plenty for others, such as C, H, S and T. Oh well.

Dominant intelligence Oct. 8th, 2006 @ 04:00 pm

Your Dominant Intelligence is Linguistic Intelligence

You are excellent with words and language. You explain yourself well.
An elegant speaker, you can converse well with anyone on the fly.
You are also good at remembering information and convincing someone of your point of view.
A master of creative phrasing and unique words, you enjoy expanding your vocabulary.

You would make a fantastic poet, journalist, writer, teacher, lawyer, politician, or translator.

Sesame Street personality Oct. 8th, 2006 @ 03:57 pm

You Are Bert

Extremely serious and a little eccentric, people find you loveable - even if you don't love them!

You are usually feeling: Logical — you rarely let your emotions rule you

You are famous for: Being smart, a total neat freak, and maybe just a little evil

How you live your life: With passion, even if your odd passions (like bottle caps and pigeons) are baffling to others

Room service by haiku Aug. 28th, 2006 @ 09:33 pm
What follows is all mollydot's fault — she challenged me to rewrite the conversation in her posting in haiku. Although she was probably joking, I couldn't resist. And damn, now my brain is wired in haiku so I cannot read anything or say or write anything without counting the syllables first. Wibble.

From http://www.electricnews.ie/frontpage/news-9679512.html :

"Irish bloggers can face legal action for defaming people online, according to a media law expert from McCann FitzGerald's Litigation Department in Dublin. A senior lawyer at the firm is advising bloggers and people who post comments on their sites that anonymity is no defence against legal action."

Somebody with no name told me that I was an idiot. Should I sue, or was I dreaming? :)

aside: what is the definition of defamation, and how does Irish law apply there? And what legal protections do we have for free speech, satire, and lampoonery?
